The Red Sea liveaboard trip was highly anticipated and did not disappoint. Our outbound flight with extra space and plenty of luggage allowance was smooth and well planned. The extra effort of sorting visas beforehand made the journey run like clockwork, and we were soon settling in onboard our Master Liveaboard Blue Horizon. We had a quick check out dive then we were off to explore the treasures of the Red Sea with historic wrecks like the Carnatic, Thistlegorm, Giannis D, Kingston and Dunraven.
We dived famous reefs like Shark, Jackson and Gordons reef in the straits of Tiran as well as scenic night dives on quiet reefs and one evening spent moored outside a lively bar with a light show and music to entertain us.
There was plenty of life both on and below the water with Dolphins, Mantas, Turtles and even a shark along with the usual vast variety of colourful fish and life that only the Red Sea seems to possess in abundance. Needless to say the diving was absolutely fantastic.
Blue Horizon was a spacious and well equipped dive charter with a large dive deck making kitting up easy. Food was to a very high standard with snacks available 24/7 and they provided fresh baked bread onboard along with donuts and cakes for afternoon snacks. I’m sure we will all have gained weight on our trip. All this was included in the price as well as 4 dives a day. The guides were very knowledgeable and the crew were very attentive and worked hard to make everything run smoothly for us.
We had a good mix of divers with varying levels of experience on board with plenty of opportunity to share knowledge, hone skills or refresh forgotten ones. We even managed to include some training with experience dives being logged and progressions signed off. There were plenty of opportunities to explore reefs and wrecks and deal with currents and night dives too. Negative entry and bumpy rides in the zodiacs added to the experiences gained. More importantly though plenty of laughs and fun were had along the way.
Liveaboard trips really are all about the diving, and Blue Horizon excels at this. Liveaboards usually include all costs accept for tips and alcohol so the initial cost might seem expensive but we literally spent nothing else whilst onboard.
In summary it was a fabulous trip which was very well organised and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
